Fun Bird Facts- When birds molt, old feathers are pushed out by new ones. This is done to replace worn feathers, or to change entire plumages for age, mating or seasonal reasons. 

 Large birds, like eagles, molt over the course of two years. Small birds, replace all of their flight feathers and body plumage annually, and sometimes twice.
